1975 MANHIGAN
ee - Mansfield Senior High
~ 145 West-Park Boulevard
Mansfield, Ohio
We Dedicate ...
... the 1975 Manhigan to Mr. Don
Morrison and Mr. George Cole, men
who dedicated themselves to the
teaching profession and devoted
themselves to the students of Mans-
field Senior High. They will be sin-
cerely missed by those who knew
them, but what they stood for will
always be seen through the achieve-
ments of those whose lives they
touched.
Class of ’75 Ends Year With Enthusiasm

We the Class of 1975 now end our twelve years of
schooling. Many of us leave behind warm memories
and friendships as we prepare for the future.
Looking back at our sophomore year, we had a good
beginning with our candy sale. The leaders were President
Lesia Fletcher, Vice-President Patti Stuht, Treasurer
Michele Miller, and Secretary Nina McCruter. Mr. Charles
Marchant and Mr. Dalton Derr were selected as class
advisors.
In our junior year homecoming was our major project.
Jackie Jones was crowned queen at the assembly and
reigned at the game and dance that evening. Nina McCruter
remained as secretary, but the other officers changed.
Michele Miller took over as president, while Steve Fraley
was elected vice-president and Larry Sqrow treasurer.
Then came our most important year, our senior year.
With the help of our new officers, Steve Fraley, president;
Mike Paul, vice-president; Patti Stuht, secretary; and
Larry Sqrow, returning as treasurer, we had a successful
final year. First, Mrs. Imhoff was selected to replace
Mr. Marchant as a class advisor. Next we sponsored
a highly successful Varsity Varieties program. Student
Council sponsored slave days for both boys and girls,
a fifties day, and the hilarious donkey basketball game.
Ginny Ott reigned over the J.C. Gorman Tournament as
queen.
And then what we all had waited for — Class Day,
the prom, and finally the Baccalaureate-Commencement
service. For some this was our last time together. We
hope for the future seniors that MHS will hold as many
memories as it has for us.
1) President of the Class of 1975 is Steve Fraley. 2) Mike
Paul is the vice-president of the class. 3) Patti Stuht first
served the class as sophomore vice-president and is now secretary
during her senior year. 4) Treasurer of the class for the last
two years is Larry Sqrow. 5) Three year advisor Mr. Derr
gives some advice to Eric Ferguson during Varsity Varieties
rehearsal. 6) Mrs. Imhoff is caught by surprise at once again
being asked to serve as class advisor. 7) Some class executive
committee members are ROW 1: Sqrow, Kiley, Wolff, Wymer,
Waddell, Smith, Rickey. ROW 2: Weber, Mrs. Imhoff, Fraley,
Paul.

The Class of 1976 started the year with the
Homecoming assembly and dance. Queen Cindy
Weirich and her court helped make the assembly
a success, while many other juniors worked on
decorations and planning for the event. The
chosen theme for the affair was from the popular
song “You Are the Sunshine of My Life’. Ed
Nolley sang the theme song for the audience.
The next project was the election of officers.
An all-girl slate was elected. New officers were
Julie Clay, president; Julie Jackson, vice-presi-
dent; and Cheryl Rodriguez, secretary; while Liz
Woods returned as treasurer.
Class members added to their treasury through-
out the year by holding a stationery sale, another
successful student-faculty volleyball game, and
various bake sales.
Juniors wound up the year by making ad-
vance plans for next year’s Varsity Varieties.
1) Junior class officers seated are Julie Clay, president, and
Julie Jackson, vice-president. Standing are Cheryl Rodriguez,
secretary, and Liz Woods, treasurer. 2) The Homecoming
assembly proved to be a successful venture for the class.

effort on behalf of the class. 4) Mrs. Carol Hane is the
newly chosen advisor this year. 5) Class Executive Committee
members are KNEELING: Dillon, Darson, Geiger, Spencer,

Students Work Hard to Present Manhigan
The Manhigan underwent a
slight change in size this year
in order to keep the price to
students the same as last year.
All activities, however, were
given the same coverage, so
that nothing was lost in the
change. Once again it was de-
cided to continue on the fall
delivery schedule so that all
spring activities could be in-
cluded in the book.
The editorial staff was head-
ed by Jeff Hoffer and advised
by Mr. David Gross. Serving
as business advisor was Mr.
Wayne Au with Debbie Risner
as business manager.

Hyphonerian Staff
Publishes Nine Issues
This year’s Hyphonerian, with Mr. Robinson as advisor,
kept the school informed by putting out a total of nine
publications. A special April Fool’s Day edition caused some
concern among students who learned that all sports were
to be dropped at Senior High, and the prom would be held
in the gym. Bill Jackson served as Editor-in-Chief, and Dave
Dotson took care of the photography.
The business staff had double responsibilities, since they
took care of both the Manhigan and Hyphonerian. They
got ads from area businessmen for both publications, took
orders for Manhigans, and distributed papers and yearbooks
on their various publication days. Mr. Au served as advisor
to the business staff, while Debbie Risner acted as manager,

Under the fine direction of Mr. David Leyerle,
the marching band presented many exciting half-
time shows, including a tribute to the 50’s, com-
plete with hot rods and sock hop dances. After
marching season was completed, the band turned
their efforts to preparing for concerts and contests
later in the year.
Officers for this year’s Tyger band were Ken

Freedom of the press, a force for truth in this
country, cannot be taken for granted. A good way
to insure its continuance is through responsible
journalism, practiced by young people in high schools
across the nation.
Congratulations to the 1975 Manhigan staff
for becoming involved in this important business
of reporting and interpreting current events.

Thank you ...
For the past year it has been a pleasure working on the
Manhigan. I would like to thank the students on this
year’s staff for making it an enjoyable time. Special thanks
should go to Mr. Earl Parks, the American Yearbook
consultant, for the help he gave this year. I also want to
acknowledge Bob Perman, who designed the cover of the
book.
Since photography is so important to a yearbook, we are
indebted to those who covered that area. Dave Dotson did
a great job covering everything for both the Manhigan and
the Hyphonerian. Smucker’s Studio took pictures at many
events and also did most of the developing and printing
for us. The Mansfield News-Journal should also be com-
mended for their cooperation in furnishing many of their
pictures for us.
I especially want to thank Mr. Au and the business staff
for all their effort getting ads, selling and distributing
books.
Also at this time I would like to wish next year’s staff
the best of luck under their editor Cindy Jones.
