Front and side view of the Newman Street School located at Newman and Grace Streets. It was a very large stone building with a bell tower.

West First Street School (later Frank Carpenter Elementary) was built in 1870 on the southwest corner of Crouse and West First Street. The photo shows the school and a smaller yellow house to the west of the school (the kindergarten).
