The first grist mill in Mifflin Township, built by John Fleming, was powered by these falls until a flood washed the mill away.

The Women's Club was built in the 1840s and served as the residence of the Hedges Family. It was given to the Mansfield Federation of Women in 1926. Remodeled in 1890, 1950 and 1972, it still stands as the Women's Club at 145 Park Avenue West.
